Dear Eddie, This is Tom the rescuer that works mount hood and Rainer mountain rescue, thank you for all your help today this is the first time I ever had a problem with my lamp it is used almost every day in the work, I do there has been times I have used it 5 days strait other than to fuel it up and wear 20 thousand feet up and cold thats at 40 below.

I have tried it all this is the only one when it comes to my life and others I have relied on it in my work. There is a very little that at the extremes that will hold up to this stuff I think I have used it on over 20 rescues and they are usually 5 days or more all day and night if you folks need something that can handle it, all this is the lamp for you this ant for kids this is the best! Thank you Tom!

Hi,       Super, I am looking forward to getting my latest quality Britelyt product!

As a former Astronaut and test pilot, I appreciate craftsmanship and utility!  The Britelyt lanterns are the only truly multi-fuel ones on the market, and are part of my personal typhoon preparedness here on Okinawa. They will also look super when I get back home to the states in my den, and out camping.

CJ

P.S. I plan to buy a new BL Petromax when I get home.

Will buy the larger one, the CP500. Several SF guys I know took 2 new Brite-Lytes with them to Afghanistan and they worked well for about two years.

They then sold the lanterns and got their money back from other GI's. The lanterns work well. They running them well on JP-8.

Thanks, Mike

I was in Afghanistan with the Army until just a few months ago.  The ceramic nozzles come loose and sometimes break.  We had several Brite-Lyt lanterns and only the SS nozzle versions could stand up to being beat around in the mountains.

The locals (Pashtuns) all knew about these lanterns and we ended up giving them up to them when we left.  All worked well with gasoline or JP-8.  The gas that the Pashtuns had was pretty smelly and at best iffy, but they burned it anyway.  JP-8 works best though.  I recommend the new Stainless Steel nozzle to any and all.

Actually the BriteLyts had been purchased by our supply guys before we deployed to Afgan. from Ft. Bragg.  We had about 6 or 7 of them.

Two that I know of, had the SS nozzles last year, and survived some very hard use. One I know was dropped over the side of a hill and when we went to get it, the globe was even okay.  That was pure luck!

The problem with the ceramic nozzle is that during maintenance, some "cocky" is bound to tighten it too much.  They do break!  Also, the SS nozzle seems to create more light. Good for the inside of caves where we operated from.  They were your products, BriteLyts, brass in fact.

They were scoured and became pretty tarnished but that was okay.

They worked well, but as I said best with JP-8 which we used in our Hummvees.  You guys have got a good product. I am at a loss as to why the BriteLyt Petromax CP500 is not a regular issue item for the war we are now in. The locals really thought we'd given them a gift (and we did) when we left our lanterns in the village and re-deployed home. Again, my regards for a super good product.

P.S.  I know of the naysayers  and their badmouthing of Diana and all. Yet I HAVE SEEN authentic BriteLyt lanterns (not earlier versions  like Geniol, Butterfly  ect.) burn crummy gasoline night after night with no problems encountered. No injuries to ANY of my soldiers at anytime. I know that I can use gasoline if the proper upgrade is done to my lantern. Diana is right about BriteLyt lanterns and I love her! She has and continues to support our troops fighting this war and that means much to me, a retired soldier.

Good morning. Thanks for the discussion this morning about globes.  The Boy Scouts in Troop 51, Herndon VA and the Girl Scouts in my daughters' troop are big fans of the 'big silver light'!   Well made product that has worked in 17 degree to 90+ degree driving rain storms!   thanks   Mike

Hi Eddie [and the team],
Just a quick note to say that I have received my order this afternoon and it is excellent. I watched the DVD and it fired up straight away with 90 seconds on the preheater using lamp oil. Everything went so well, no flaring, no black spots on the mantle, it just worked perfectly! I cannot wait until the stoves come into stock, I'll certainly be picking up a nickel plated finish one.
So thank you for the great service, when it comes to ordering the stove around June I'll be all the more clued-up and use PayPal straight away. Really pleased with it! Joel

I'm on my third tank of fuel and did a 'rinse out' with a thimble-full or so.
But I did check the state of the #33 part (mine has the new stainless part) and found that it had come loose and slipped all the way down. Pulled it back up and re-cinched it.

The lamp is brighter and no 'surging' tonight when I was running it. This is at 31 degrees, 10-knot breeze, and light snow showers. I would look up from my reading and find that the lamp was running steadily and reliably. Thanks for an amazing lamp. Great  light for contemplation and reading outside where it's quiet, even in these conditions. I appreciate its reliability, even more so because I collect and restore old lamps. Steamguy

Dear Sirs:   I got home from a week's campout today and was unable to take my BriteLyt/Petromax due to a broken ceramic nozzle.  I ordered your stainless steel nozzle (part #3-SS) while I was gone and installed it today.  Just one word:  Awesome!!!  Thanks to Diana for breaking ceramics.  This inspired you to create this outstanding product.  I am touch typing this email while waiting for my retinas to return to normal!  Thanks for your outstanding customer service.   Why, oh why, did I ever buy parts from ebay?

Thanks again.   Your loyal customer,   Joe GA

P.S. Beware of a Klingon imposter lamps out there...  The tolerances are so poor on these products that they are only good for setting yourself on fire.  The $60.00 price suckered me

Just an update: we've had 7+ inches of snow, and although it's 26° and blowing 20 MPH, the lamp is performing 'brilliantly'. Great lamp; starts every time, burns what I happen to have on hand (most often diesel or kero for my old lamps). This at 1-16-07.

Eddie and Diana,

This is Frank in NC. Just wanted to let you guys know how much we really came to appreciate the BriteLyt over the past week. We were at the infamous, "ground 0" of the ice storm, power gone for 5 days. We had neighbors wondering how we had such bright lights on. It was the BriteLyt. Anyway, it is a world class product, and it's operating just like a champ.

Frank!

Hello!

My name is Ernie. I'm a NYC Police Officer who was involved in the rescue and recovery efforts down at the World Trade Center.

It was during this time that my Petromax was crushed by a piece of heavy equipment. I want to replace it with another one. I am very partial to multi-fuel capability, especially after having to scramble for any fuel which was available in the early days E 9/11. Cost being a factor, thanks to Mike, I'm not in the position to buy a new one.

I do, however, have the opportunity to buy a used Petromax from an individual who says he purchased his from a company called Nitro-Pac. While on your site I learned that although the lantern says Petromax, it may not be multi-fuel. Could you tell me if you supply Nitro-Pac with lanterns and if there is any way of knowing if this lantern is multi-fuel? If it helps, I was told the lantern was purchased shortly before Y2K. I see on your site BriteLyt is a multi-fueled lantern. Thanks, Ernie

Several months ago I purchased a used 500 on E-bay from you-all and then Icoverted it to an alcohol 500 with your kit.  Well today I desided to lightit for the first time ever for me.  Using denatured AH from the hardwarestore it was so easy no pumping nothing just fill the lamp fill the heaterlight the heater and after about 2 min. it was lit!  This is an awsomelamp!  This is just a thanks for a great product. Hank

Eddie, got my lantern tonight and it fired up right away. Thank you very much! I appreciate  doing business with someone that takes care of their customers.
I have the lantern burning in my living room and there is no odor, that is the reason I bought it.

Again, thank you and God bless! Johnny
Dear Eddie,

Here is another testimonial to your great service. I bought a lantern from one of your dealers, but it had a VHS videotape rather than the DVD you describe on your website. I wrote to inquire about the discrepancy. You reassured me that it was a legitimate dealer, that everything in the package was up to date except the DVD, and answered my other questions right away. You then sent the DVD for free. This kind of response really gives me confidence in your business. I will certainly be buying some accessories like the stainless steel nozzle, heater, etc.

 Jim

Dear Sir,

My friend has already today received the shipping at the hotel Intercontinel, and he is flying back to Brazil tomorrow bringing my marvelous and so desired BriteLyt Lantern. Thank you very much. Everything has worked perfectly in the delivery, and in my opinion is thankful to the American way accuracy and reliable to work so wonderful.

Carlos

To whom it concerns:

I received the 500 CP I ordered last weekend today. Fantastic shipping time and a beautiful product. I will certainly enjoy owning such a beauty.Thank you!!! Best regards,
Jay

Hi,

I finally got my BriteLyt Petromax lantern lit last night, boy the video really helped a lot!!!! After getting the air pump adaptor I could pump that sucker up in 30 seconds (rather than the 1200 strokes by hand).

By the way, I assume you changed the design to an "O" ring rather than the leather part of the plunger (Works great!!.)

The video (for being a home movie hahaha) was very well done, thorough and detailed. I couldn't believe how bright it is. Very cool - or maybe I should say HOT!!!

Unfortunately, my case was backordered and I threw the box away (Ironically, the only box I have thrown away in 5 years), but I am sure I can find another suitable one for the case.

BriteLyt: I will send you out a box for the lantern just put it together with tape you will see the tape areas.

Q #1 - If a user is reasonably prudent, do you have to be careful not to overpump (over pressurize) the tank. I pegged the needle and let it pre-heat for 90 seconds - and still had plenty of pressure to run the lantern. I don't want to blow any seals.

BriteLyt: No with a bike pump you can not even with a 12 g Co2 system you can not (Superflate system) but you can with a compressor if it goes over 100psi. 3 on the lantern gauge is about 35 pounds to 40 pounds.

#2 - I read that every 5th or 6th time , it is advisable to put a little bit of carburetor cleaner in the fuel (if kerosene) to help reduce maintenance and clean the generator. Is that okay?

BriteLyt: Yes, kerosene takes about 1 to 3 years before you need to take off the part #152 to clean it and #101 but using the carburetor cleaner will help so you do not need to do this.

Point #1 - If one happens to burn the top or get it sooty, one can use 'Mr. Clean's - Miracle Sponge" and the soot and residue wipes off like magic. It is truly amazing.

BriteLyt: Thanks for that info!

Point #2 - Under the category Duhhhh - I left my pre-heater on for almost 2 minutes, and the top got red hot but could not get the mantle to even light in the least. I had turned around the tube fixture to try and line up the screw hole with the top frame, and had the hole opposite the generator. Easy to figure out but just wanted to share my ignorance.

Thanks for a great product!!! With the high specific gravity of 1-K Kerosene it burns a lot hotter than white gas or propane..Keep up the good work.Gary

Got my stove friday UPS. Boy it is a nice stove , and it runs very nice.

I like the overall apperance and it's wide stance , it's very stable with large pots.

Question ? Because the filler cap is near the burner and the cap and tank run hot to the touch , will the rubber gaskets in the filler cap have a shorter life ?

I wonder if I should order a few extra filler cap gaskets to have along in the woods just in case , I would not want to get a leak on the 3rd day of a 7 day camping trip.. You have done GOOD , it is a great looking unit Nice work. Curtis

Eddie,

Received my lantern back from you today. Works perfectly and I'm very pleased with the prompt service. Its a pleasure to do business with a reputable company that is willing to stand behind their products. Thanks for the extra mantles and video. I will be a repeat customer and. will recommend you to everyone who has asked about the lantern. Thanks again, Jody

I received my BriteLyt last Friday and wanted to drop you a note to say how pleased I was with the 500 cp lantern. The video tape was great! Much clearer than the manual (a picture may be worth a thousand words but a movie's worth a million.). I think I've sold. a few more to co-workers who stopped by to look at it the afternoon it came in... Thank you for answering my questions and I look forward to a lot of use out of my lantern. Regards, Jim

Diana, My Lantern arrived yesterday and I like it a lot. Thank you for the extra documentation, your comments were very helpful since I only had Coleman fuel available to test run the lantern. It worked Fine on this fuel. I installed the EZ cooker and boiled a liter of water in 8 1/2 minutes. The build quality of the lantern is quite impressive (the EZ cooker is a bit less impressive, but functional.) Kindest Regards, Mark

Thanks for the good service on products and spare parts. Many of my American friends were intrigued with my BriteLyt lantern, My friend has you lantern too. I Was happy to steer him to the fine BriteLyt products. So far he has had good things to say. Kind regards, Hakan

Below will be some Post from our BriteLyt Community News BBoard!

I tried the new SS nozzle using K1 kerosene and it seems to work as advertised. Very bright, more like a welding arc than a burning mantle! I think I really annoyed others at camp as they squinted, turned their heads, and shuffled past my lantern!   New Stainless Steel Nozzle

We've been a week without electricity, thanks (no) to Hurricane Wilma. I am convinced that there are two essential things which separate people from the beasts in the jungle:

(1) Lighting at night.
(2) Hot showers.

So when is Britelyt going to come out with a kerosene home water heater??

Seriously, the Britelyt lantern is great. We run it every night. I highly, highly recommend that it be added to the list of important supplies for anyone who lives in an area prone to hurricanes or other loss of the normal comforts of civilization.   Tom

Hello, Actually, we are working on a new heater attachment, for the lantern, that will allow the consumer to use the lantern for that purpose. Yes.... we have been thinking about, all this, when the hurricane’s came through last year, and we are working on that item, as well. Of course, during last years' hurricanes, a heating unit was not needed (way too hot, for that!!), but.....it would definitely be a nifty item to have on hand. Thanks for the info! Diana BriteLyt

My Petromax products arrived on the 12th 6 days UPS ftom Florida to Phoernx...I had been given a tracking number but was not necessary. Everything about my purchase transaction has been correct and first class. A nice thank you note was enclosed along with complete parts list and FAQ's. A shipping list/original order form marked paid also enclosed plus complete operating instructions. I have not put in the fuel as yet but the quality of the merchandise shows. I have taken the time to post my complimentary remarks because I have made some purchases else where on the web that were unsatisfactory but I am very happy with this purchase. Ron
The finish and detail are really nice. I had a little trouble figuring out how to use it as I'm not the most mechanical person.. I called their tech support and they were the sweetest people. Had me running in under a minute. I'm going to get a few more to use as lighting/heating/cooking devices since the lantern can heat a small room and cook too. I'm trying to figure a way to get my wife to let me hang it up in my den... Alex!

As far as winter goes, my BriteLyt also generates enough heat to heat a small room! (kind of a disadvantage in the summer) And the light output is really intense -- in the "high" setting, it's about 5 times brighter than my coleman lamp. I've found that it uses about 1 quart of fuel per 16-20 hours (medium setting). I have nothing to compare that to since my coleman is a propane unit. The web has great pictures and info on the lamp. It has a neat finish and really look- "cool". I have ordered parts from them before for my lantern..

They have a technician there that knows more about these lanterns than anyone I've ever encountered. I recall that they’re located down south. I also have a Coleman propane lantern for outdoors use. It's ok but not really well built and for safety issues, you're not supposed to use them indoors. (the BriteLyt can be used safely indoors-- NOT with gasoline though-- USE ONLY KEROSENE OR LAMP OIL INDOORS)

Just got off the phone with the woman at Britelyt. She is the nicest person you would ever want to meet! We had a conversation about the products...! ordered the lantern and the stove. I asked her about soot output and she said basically there was non-if preheated properly.

Before you ask, I am in know way affiliated with this company or benefit in any way from there sale. I am posting this as information and personal experience on the best lantern I have ever personally used.

I bought my Britelyt nearly 2 years ago when I first started researching. I have absolutely loved everything about the lantern. The only real problem I have is that my wife loves it so much (she uses it as a decorative piece in our living room) she doesn't want me lighting it. I have to sneak it out to the garage to play with it while she's at work. The lantern is so heavily constructed, you could probably run it over with a tank & still "fire" it up. I bet I'll get close to 50 yrs out of this lantern .

The Lantern can run on ANY fuel and kicks out close to 400 watts of light (more than enough to d__ near blind you and heat your room. I am willing to bet derrick picks up at least a dozen of these beauties to add to survival collection. Buy the reflector shield, it will drastically increase your lighting. Definitely purchase the BriteLyt EZ-Pump valve! This will makes pumping easier, and helps to prevent mantle breakage. With the EZ-pump valve, you can use a bicycle pump (hand or foot) or, with adapter, you can use the superflate CO2 cartridges system. The superflate can be purchased at most bicycle shop or on the web. Thanks Matt
