Small Florida-based company, in conjunction with the National Methanol Institute, has devised an Emergency Package, which includes lantern, instructional video or DVD, cooking attachment, mantles, parts, & 1 Quart to- 1 gallon container of Methanol. BriteLyt was the first company to make light with methanol in a lantern work.

"As we are ready for new technologies to complement the alcohol household energy economy we hope to make possible, new businesses will be brought in—the owners of appliances and appropriate technology that may be of interest and value to consumers in the Developing World. Thus, Dometic AB can provide the stove, but we may reach out to a different company to supply the lantern, and indeed the selected company  is  a  small U.S. company,  BriteLyt, which has created a new generation of Petromax lanterns that are fuelled with alcohols.

This research and development work— to develop the alcohol lantern—was done expressly for this project, just as Dometic adapted its original boat stove expressly for this project.

This is the Project Gaia partnership. It is a partnership coalescing around a compelling idea, that alcohol fuels, if developed, could provide a superior form of energy, clean, safe, healthful, environmentally benign, for some 3 billion people who are today forced to depend upon dirty and unsafe fuels or who may have little access to any fuels at all in areas where deforestation and poverty have given rise to a pervasive energy poverty."

Methanol is a LIQUID FUEL (not a gaseous fuel, such as methane or propane). Methanol can be distributed in a plastic container, safely.  Methanol is a Biodegradable fuel.

Methanol has proven safe for the environment, and does not emit deadly carbon-monoxide fumes. Has been proven to be used safely indoors, and tested by NSIE

(National Safety Information & Exchange).

Testing results submitted to Consumer Protection Agency.

The LOSS OF LIFE, during the past disastrous weather conditions, due to unsafe heating/lighting/cooking products, etc., is totally inexcusable.

This Emergency Package has been designed, & made available, without any government or individual investors.

The "package" CAN BE USED INDOORS ", for the purpose of heating (20' x 20' area), lighting (approx. 400-watts, w/4-6 hours burn time), and, cooking (cooking adaptor holds 5-gallon pots, dutch ovens.. etc.).

This Emergency Package will be a MONEY-SAVING venture, for those agencies, required to purchase batteries, flashlights, etc., (in accordance with each State's regulations i.e...California School  District).

Methanol is proven to be safe to the environment, is used in purification of sewer waste plants as well as clean-water facilities, and CAN BE STORED INDEFINITELY.

Methanol will not freeze, unless subjected to (-200 BELOW O) degree weather.

The Methanol lantern can also use Ethanol as a fuel.

We also have Stoves that will use Methanol, & Ethanol fuels.

Third world countries are requesting assistance, in obtaining these lanterns, as methanol or Ethanol would assist in preserving their natural resources, and prevent annihilation of their forests and coal reserves, and saving life's from there carbon-monoxide producing products.

The Britelyt Methanol,Ethanol and alcohol lantern did perform well at

ETHOS 2007 Conference.  

Britelyt - at ETHOS had a CO/CO2 ratio (COr) of 0.05% indicating an
extremely clean burn. The results were extremely low emissions as expected
from hot burning of alcohol.

 BriteLyt, Inc. is the only company to also offer a "multi-fueled" lantern (U.S. Patent 6,439,223 Draper, et al. August 27,2002), (tested by National Safety Information & Exchange - NSIE, and with filed reports by the Consumer Protection Agency), which can be operated safely & efficiently.

This lantern operates using kerosene, diesel, mineral spirits, Ultra-pure, Bio-Diesel (see www.biodiesel.com), as well as other flammable liquid fuels.
